Imparting financial literacy in the home environment and educational institutions is identified as a major component of IECED’s mission of ‘Helping People to Take Ownership of Life’. IECED has planned a number of interventions towards this end like involving children in family finances, encouraging children to Keep accounts of income and expenditure of family and preparing family budgets etc.
It is proposed to launch MOOC courses on financial literacy. In the higher educational institutions, it is proposed to launch internship programmes wherein the students will be trained to become financial literacy counsellors. The trained counsellors will be provided opportunities to impart financial literacy to poor and marginalized sections.
